- You make some good points, but one cannot run the risk of bankruptcy IF they become one of the many who have to have surgery or other medical needs that could run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Insurance companies are not your friend.

- And where else but America would one grow old and finally get medicare and then have to purchase another health insurance policy to supplement it? That's ridiculous! I believe we should get rid of all of the programs (medicare, medicaid, chips, VA, etc.) and have one universal plan with coverage …

- We need a healthcare system that is similar to social security. Deduct a healthcare tax from all employees. Have the employer pick up half of that amount, like they do with social security tax. Nationalize all of the hospitals. (There is no such things as a "not for profit" hospital.

- Suz, not only the over priced policies as you mentioned, but now co-pays, deductibles and out of pocket expenses will soon make it so that many with insurance cannot afford to use it.

- I believe healthcare is more of a moral issue. Those who have shouuld be willing to help those who have not in order to address their ailments and infirmities.

- Exactly Kate. And forget about a "citizen government." Politicans spend millions to stay in office for life, IE Kennedy, Byrd, and leave no chance of any of us "commoners" ever serving.
